London News Ghost Stories Scares Up a New Cast to Terrify London's West End

Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s play "contains moments of extreme shock and tension."

Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s supernatural Ghost Stories will return to the West End later this fall, and a complete cast has been assembled.

The Olivier Award-nominated show, which will play a six-week engagement at the Peacock Theatre September 30–November 8, will officially open October 8.

Ghost Stories follows Professor Goodman, an arch-skeptic out to debunk the paranormal. He embarks on an investigation of three apparent hauntings—as recounted by a night watchman, a teenage boy, and a businessman awaiting his first child—and finds himself at the outer limits of rationality.

For this production, the company will feature David Cardy (Birds of a Feather) as Tony Matthews, Jonathan Guy Lewis (London’s Burning) as Professor Goodman, Clive Mantle (Casualty) as Mike Priddle, Preston Nyman (Mufasa: The Lion King) as Simon Rifkind, and Lloyd McDonagh (The Mind Mangler) as The Others, with Simon Bass (Farm Hall) and Harry Rundle (Harry Potter & The Cursed Child) serving as production understudies.

In a previous joint statement Dyson and Nyman said, "We are delighted that Ghost Stories will be returning to scare the hell out of West End audiences after its first-ever U.K. tour. It's an extraordinary thing for us that after 15 years Ghost Stories is still going strong. It’s so exciting to be able to share the screams, the laughs, the scares, and the leap-out-of-your seat sensory-experience of the 90-minute thrill ride that Ghost Stories is.”

Ghost Stories is written by Dyson and Nyman and directed by Dyson, Nyman, and Sean Holmes. The creative team also includes set and costume designer Jon Bausor, lighting designer James Farncombe, sound designer Nick Manning, special effects designer Scott Penrose, casting director Ginny Schiller, associate director Andy Room, movement director Lloyd McDonagh, costume supervisor Rebecca Gunstone, and props supervisor Will Edwards.

Producers warn the play "contains moments of extreme shock and tension" and is unsuitable for those under the age of 15.

Ghost Stories was last seen in the West End in 2019 at the Ambassadors’s Theatre after a run at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. The production is currently touring the U.K.
