On August 10, Disney Channel will premiere Freaky Friday, the new movie musical by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey that is the latest iteration of the well-known story about a mother and daughter who spend a day in each other's shoes. In the exclusive teaser video above, watch the cast performing on set and see interviews with the film's stars and creators.
Leading the cast of Freaky Friday are Cozi Zuehlsdorff as Ellie and Broadway's Heidi Blickenstaff (as Katherine), reprising her role from Disney Theatrical Productions' stage adaptation of the film.
The Steve Carr-helmed movie also features a score by David Lawrence, plus a screenplay penned by the musical's book writer, Bridget Carpenter.
The comedy will air at 8 PM August 10 on Disney Channel, and will also be available earlier (12:01 AM PT) on DisneyNOW and 12:01 AM ET/PT on Disney Channel VOD.
The Freaky Friday stage musical debuted in October 2016 at Virginia's Signature Theatre (the show itself is based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel and the various screen adaptations that followed). The musical subsequently played La Jolla Playhouse, Cleveland Playhouse, and Houston's Alley Theatre.
