Also starring Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss, the film is a modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic.

Nia DaCosta's adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler is coming to the big screen! Written and directed by DaCosta, Hedda will play select theatres October 22 before arriving globally on Prime Video October 29. Starring Tessa Thompson, Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss, the film is a modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic, as Hedda (Thompson) finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life.

Over the course of one charged night, her long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt, pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal. DaCosta's adaptation is rated R, going further in her depictions than Ibsen was able to when the text was first written in 1891.

The film is produced by Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Gabrielle Nadig, DaCosta, and Thompson.
