Broadway alum Jessica Hendy is bringing her life story to the stage in a new solo musical Walking With Bubbles, which will play Off-Broadway's newly renovated AMT Theater beginning March 31 ahead of an April 10 opening night. Written and performed by Hendy, the new show features music and lyrics by Brianna Kothari Barnes and direction by Richard Hess.

The work explores Hendy's time as a Broadway actor (Hendy's credits include Cats, Amour, and AIDA) while being a single mom struggling with mental illness.
"It's scary to be so vulnerable in sharing the private issues I've faced in my personal life and within my family, but it's also an important part of healing," says Hendy. "Brianna and I have come together to bring this taboo topic into the spotlight. It impacts so many people but is seldom talked about."
The work, initially a play with music, premiered at Irondale Theatre's On Woman festival in 2021, after which Barnes was brought on to supply an original score. An industry reading of the musical version was held last year in Manhattan.
