Eleri Ward's Acoustic Sondheim: Live from Brooklyn, the final entry in the singer-songwriter's trilogy of folk guitar explorations of Stephen Sondheim's work, is set to be released in digital and streaming formats June 2, but Playbill has an exclusive first listen of a medley from Into the Woods from the upcoming release.
Watch Ward accompany herself on "Children Will Listen," "Stay With Me," "Agony," "I Know Things Now," and "No One Is Alone" above.
Following Keep A Tender Distance and A Perfect Little Death, Live from Brooklyn features selections from both recordings: “Children Will Listen” and “Send in the Clowns” from Perfect Little Death and "Move On" from Tender Distance, as well as Ward's first recordings of “Giants in the Sky” and “Good Thing Going” and the above Into the Woods medley that’s been a staple of her concert repertoire. Bobby Conte (Company, A Bronx Tale) also joins Ward for a duet.
The new collection is produced by Allen Tate and Ward.
Live from Brooklyn will be released the same day that its predecessor, Keep A Tender Distance, will be available on vinyl. Ward will celebrate both events with a concert at Joe’s Pub June 5.
