Irish writer, actor and playwright Flynn, who also serves as the New Independent Dublin City Councillor, debuted the 75-minute, one-man play in Dublin in 2009.
James X will officially open Dec. 9 for a limited engagement at the Bleecker Street Theatre through Dec. 18. Byrne, Liam Neeson and the Culture Project present the run in association with Culture Ireland.
Here's how the Culture Project describes James X: "An Irish government tribunal of inquiry into the institutions responsible for the cruel and inhumane treatment of children is in session. In the foyer, James X, one of those children, now a man, anxiously prepares to offer the testimony which he hopes will unshackle him from the past. As he waits, James is confronted with the fact that the tribunal he is about to go before is part of the very same system what made prisoners of children like him. Sighting this truth prompts him to tell the story which will really, finally, set him free."
Byrne earned a Tony Award nomination for A Moon for the Misbegotten. He also appeared with the Culture Project in The Exonerated and is known for his work on "The Usual Suspects" and HBO's "In Treatment."
Tickets will go on sale shortly at CultureProject.org. The Bleecker Street Theatre is located at 45 Bleecker Street.
