There will also be a musical based on Kurt Vonnegut's classic novel, "Slaughterhouse Five," and another set in the midst of the 2011 revolution in Egypt.

Public staged readings at the Conference will be held June 28-29 and July 2 and 4.

"We are thrilled to invite six emerging and established creators to the Conference this summer. First, a musical adaptation of Vonnegut's anti-war novel, then the story of a new generation struggling in the aftermath of the Egyptian Arab Spring revolution, and a musical that capitalizes on the phenomenon of a zombie apocalypse in the midst of America's growing fast food nation," said Paulette Haupt, O'Neill Artistic Director.

Musicals that have been developed at the conference in previous seasons include Avenue Q, The Wild Party, In the Heights and Violet. Casting, directors and creative teams will be announced in May.

We Live in Cairo
