The Tony
Awards Administration Committee assembled January 16 to confirm the eligibility
status of 11 Broadway productions for the 2024–2025 season.
Productions discussed included
Sunset Blvd., A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical, Maybe
Happy Ending, Tammy Faye, Elf, Swept Away, Death Becomes Her, Cult of
Love, Eureka Day, Gypsy, and All In.

the second time this season that the Administration

The Tony Awards has eligibility rules that place artists in
consideration for the various award categories based on billing at
opening night. The Administration Committee rules when artists will be
considered in ways that fall outside of those rules.
Most notable from the current round of rulings is the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Eureka Day will be considered eligible in the Best Revival of a Play category. Although Jonathan Spector's acclaimed vaccine drama has never been seen on Broadway before, the play premiered Off-Broadway in 2019 and made a London
debut in 2022.
The committee made the following determinations on all requests eligible for consideration:
Tom Francis will be considered eligible in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category for his performance in Sunset Blvd.
Scenic designer Soutra Gilmour and video designer/cinematographer Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom will be considered jointly eligible in the Best Scenic Design of a Musical category for their work on Sunset Blvd.

Eureka Day will be considered eligible in the Best Revival of a Play category. Jonathan Spector will be considered eligible as author.
Scenic designer Todd Rosenthal and projection designer David Bengali will be considered jointly eligible in the Best Scenic Design of a Play category for their work on Eureka Day.
All other eligibility determinations were consistent with the show’s opening-night credits. That is, only actors whose names appear above the title are eligible for nomination in the Leading Actor/Actress categories. Producers must petition the Administration Committee in order to change actors' eligibility status.
The Tony Awards Administration Committee is comprised of 24 members: 10 are designated by the Wing, 10 by the League, and one each by the Dramatists Guild, Actors’ Equity Association, United Scenic Artists, and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. The committee determines eligibility for nominations in all awards categories and reviews the rules governing the awards.
The 78th Annual Tony Awards will be presented June 8 at Radio City Music Hall and broadcast live on CBS with streaming on Paramount+.
