The Muny production is among the first regional stagings of the Tony and Olivier Award-winning musical that has music by Elton John, with book and lyrics by Lee Hall.
The cast will feature Tony Award nominee Skinner as Mrs. Wilkinson with Oreskes (The Miracle Worker, The Revisionist) as Dad, Perkins (The Full Monty) as Grandma and Biesinger as Billy. Each of the actors previously appeared in the Broadway production of Billy Elliot.
The cast will also feature Ben Nordstrom as Tony, Steve Isom as George, Michael Harp as Michael and Maria Knasel as Debbie.
The Muny production of Billy Elliot will be directed by Steven Minning, with choreography by Alison Levenberg and musical direction by Colin Welford.
Based on the hit film, Billy Elliot premiered in London in 2005 and continues its West End run. The hit musical opened on Broadway Nov. 13, 2008, at the Imperial Theatre and ran over 1,300 performances. The musical earned ten 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Book and Best Musical. Billy Elliot was originally choreographed by Peter Darling and directed by Stephen Daldry.
