Based on the Parfumerie by Miklos Laszio, the 1963 Broadway musical She Loves Me features a book by Joe Masteroff, music by Jerry Bock, and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. The original production was nominated for five 1964 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, winning one for Jack Cassidy's performance. The original staging also featured orchestrations by Don Walker, who was one of the founders of Bucks County Playhouse.
The musical follows 1930s perfumery clerks Amalia and Georg, who are constantly at odds but both find joy in the romantic letters exchanged with anonymous pen pals they discover through a “lonely hearts ad.”
“We are absolutely delighted to bring the jewel-box musical She Loves Me to the Playhouse stage helmed by the brilliant director and choreographer Denis Jones, whose work on Broadway we have long admired,” said Alexander Fraser, producing director of Bucks County Playhouse, in a statement. “It’s a show filled with charm, wit, and heart—and we’re thrilled to welcome back the luminous Elena Shaddow, who was unforgettable as Sarah Brown in our production of Guys and Dolls She brings such warmth and elegance to the role of Amalia. We’re also excited to be working for the first time with the incredibly talented Andrew Leeds and Clyde Voce. And to welcome back to Kate Rockwell, who was part of our development of the Broadway bound Regency Girls.”

Jared Janas, lighting design by Kirk Bookman, sound design by Ien DeNio, music direction by Jacob Carll, production stage management by Dane Urban, and casting by Paul Hardt Casting's Fiona McIntyre Sucher.
