Los Angeles News Eleanor Burgess’ The Niceties Will Play the Geffen Playhouse The play has been seen previously at the Huntington Theatre Company and the McCarter Theatre Center.

The Geffen Playhouse will stage the West Coast premiere of Eleanor BurgessThe Niceties, which is set to begin April 9 ahead of an April 17 opening night. Kimberly Senior will direct.

The cast will feature Lisa Banes as Janine and Jordan Boatman as Zoe in the story of a white professor and a black student who become involved in a polite clash of perspectives that quickly explodes into an urgent and dangerous debate threatening to ruin both their lives.

Performances will continue through May 12.

The Niceties will have set design by Cameron Anderson, costume design by Kara Harmon, lighting design by D.M. Wood, and original music and sound design by Elisheba Ittoop. Alaine Alldafer is casting director.
