WP Theater (formerly Women’s Project Theater) will honor Emmy-winning Broadway alum Debra Messing and President of BBC Worldwide North America Ann M. Sarnoff with Women of Achievement Awards at its 32nd annual gala. Hedwig and the Angry Inch Tony winner Lena Hall will host the event, which will take place March 27 at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).
The evening will include appearances and performances by Ana Villafañe (On Your Feet!), Christina Bianco (The Marvelous Wonderettes), Kathy Najimi (Hocus Pocus), producer Kate Lear (Of Mice and Men), and indie-rock duo The Bengsons.
The organization’s Women of Achievement Awards honor outstanding women who have broken boundaries and pushed the limits in their respective fields. Past recipients of this honor include six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, playwright Eve Ensler, Scandal Emmy nominee Kerry Washington, EGOT winner Whoopi Goldberg, Tony winner Chita Rivera, and Oscar and Tony winner Vanessa Redgrave.
