Awards Date Set for 3rd Annual Chita Rivera Awards; Members of Nominating Committees Announced Nominations for the awards, honoring the best in dance on stage and screen, will be announced in April.

The 3rd annual Chita Rivera Awards, named for three-time Tony-honored Broadway legend Chita Rivera, will take place May 19 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place). Nominations will be announced April 26.

The mission of the Chita Rivera Awards is to celebrate dance and choreographic excellence. Nominators will consider outstanding choreography, featured dancers, and ensembles in shows on Broadway and off, as well as outstanding choreography in film, that opened in the 2018-2019 season. Honorees of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Outstanding Contribution to Musical Theater Award, and Outstanding Contribution to the Arts and Humanities will be announced in the coming weeks.

The 2019 Awarding Committee includes chair Sylviane Gold, Anna Kisselgoff, Donna McKechnie, Lee Roy Reams, Robert LaFosse, Ted Chapin, and Wendy Perron.

The Broadway Nominating Committee includes Andy Sandberg, Anna Kisselgoff, Caitlin Carter, Don Correia, Donna McKechnie, Gary Chryst, Jenny Lyn Bader, Jessica Thomas, Joe Lanteri, Jonathan Herzog, Laura Penn, Lee Roy Reams, Mary Beth O'Connor, Melinda Atwood, Mercedes Ellington, Michael Milton, Patricia Watt, Randy Skinner, Robert La Fosse, Sandy Duncan, Sylviane Gold, Ted Chapin, Wendy Federman, and Wendy Perron. The Off-Broadway Nominating Committee is comprised of Deidre Goodwin, Jessica Thomas, Joe Lanteri, Herzog, Michael Milton, Patricia Watt, Robert LaFosse, and Scott Jovovich. On the Film Committee are Sandberg, Joanna Ney, O'Connor, Rex Reed, and Wilhelmina Frankfurt.

The awards are produced by Joe Lanteri, founder and executive director of the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation, Inc., in conjunction with Patricia Watt. The NYC Dance Alliance Foundation College Scholarship Program will be the beneficiary of the event. Since the inception of the NYC Dance Alliance Foundation, $2.5 million have been awarded to over 200 dancers represented in 42 of the most prestigious college dance programs in the country.
