Highlights from the original musical Love the Struggle, inspired by Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre’s writings and life-long love affair, will be presented at Joe's Pub November 17 at 7 PM and 9 PM.

Directed by Ellie Heyman, the concerts will feature Damon Daunno (Oklahoma!; The Seat of Our Pants), Grace McLean (Suffs; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Amber Gray (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), and Margo Seibert (Octet, Rocky), with Neal Bledsoe (Othello) narrating the evening.

The developing musical is co-written by Stacy Kray and Yair Evnine, who will donate proceeds from the evening back to the Public Theater, which houses and owns the intimate nightclub.

Evnine, a cellist/guitarist who also co-orchestrated Waitress, said in a statement, “Joe’s Pub was one of the first venues I played after moving here, and it still feels like home, where artists of all stripes congregate for inspiration and community.”

“I love directing at the Pub. It’s one of the last remaining NYC gems where you never know what will happen,” added Heyman.

Kray, who serves on the Joe’s Pub Advisory Council, stated, “When I need to find my creative fire, I head straight for the Pub. It’s the perfect way to plunge immediately into the artistic milieu that makes New York what it is.”
