A new reading series is coming to the DR2 Theatre, courtesy of Vineyard Theatre and Daryl Roth. Called Spiritus, each performance will feature a different celebrated actor taking on the role of Virgil in a new play by Pulitzer finalist Dael Orlandersmith.

Inspired by Dante's Inferno, Spiritus is a solo play about how we live and how we die. When Virgil, the sufferer of many losses, reconnects with a friend working as a funeral director in the Bronx, the pair embark on an unexpected journey in search of identity, memory, and purpose. The readings will be directed by Danny Sharron.

Readers for the series will include Tony winner Celia Keenan-Bolger October 20, playwright Orlandersmith October 27, Emmy winner Edie Falco November 10, and Tony nominee John Douglas Thompson November 17. Following each reading, there will be a talkback.
