The Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts has announced the lineup for its 2025 summer season, which will run May 30 - September 18 in Vienna, Virginia.
Several Broadway stars feature, including an evening with Wicked film star Cynthia Erivo and the National Symphony Orchestra scheduled for September 7, and an evening with Tony winners Kelli O'Hara and Sutton Foster, scheduled for August 1. Wolf Trap will also partner with Virginia's Signature Theatre for the fifth season of Broadway in the Park at the Filene Center.
The season will kick off May 30 and 31 with two nights of Swept Away songwriters The Avett Brothers, and continue with appearances from Paul Simon, Ringo Starr, James Taylor, Jacob Collier, Barenaked Ladies, Goo Goo Dolls, The Roots, Ziggy Marley, "Weird Al" Yankovic, and more. Humorist David Sedaris will also make an appearance, telling his bestselling stories live on stage.
Wolf Trap Opera will present three operas showcasing the rising stars of its young artist program: Mozart's comic masterpiece The Marriage of Figaro, Poulenc's harrowing French Revolution-set tragedy Dialogues of the Carmelites, and Bizet's iconic Carmen. Wolf Trap Opera soloists will also perform in various concerts, including a performance of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana with the National Symphony Orchestra.
The National Symphony Orchestra will also perform two live film scores in concert: Back to the Future by Alan Silvestri, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back by John Williams. Both scores will be performed live to accompany screenings of the films. Another concert will celebrate the movie musicals of the Disney Renaissance, featuring songs and clips from Disney films of the '80s and '90s, including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and more.
