New comedy Colin Quinn: Small Talk officially opens at the Lucille Lortel Theatre January 23. Performances began January 6 and are set to continue through February 11. Written and performed by Colin Quinn (Colin Quinn: Long Story Short, Saturday Night Live), the solo show is produced by Mike Lavoie & Carlee Briglia, and Brian Stern.
In this newest solo show, Quinn explores the concept of personality, taking audiences inside how he chats up everyone from friends and family to municipal employees and counter people—and how everyone else can, too. The comedian also shares how to not suck the energy out of the room. “I'm doing this show because I’m fascinated with how personality in general (and individuals in particular) have fed into society. (Fascinated might be a strong word)," Quinn said in an earlier statement.
James Fauvell directs Small Talk, having previously direct Quinn's Red State Blue State. Small Talk features set design by Zoë Hurvitz (Tomorrow Will Take Care Of Itself), lighting design by Amina Alexander (Alex Edelman: Just For Us), and sound design by Margaret Montagna (A Woman of the World).
Quinn has previously presented his solo shows An Irish Wake and Long Story Short on Broadway. Off-Broadway, he has taken the stage in three other solo shows: My Two Cents, Unconstitutional, The New York Story, and Red State Blue State.
