Playbill Songwriter Series alum Cheeyang Ng will make their London debut later this autumn with an evening of material from their various musicals-in-development. Held November 5 at Crazy Coqs, the 70-minute concert will be filled to the brim with new material.

Titled Fat, Femme & Asian, the concert will be a celebration of words that have been deemed undesirable, and a reclamation of identity. The show explores why Ng became a writer, specifically for musical theatre, and the stories that excite them as a new landscape is imagined for epic Asian stories.

Featuring material from the musicals Eastbound (written with Khiyon Hursey), Māyā (written with Eric Sorrels), and The Phoenix (written with Desdemona Chiang and Sorrels), the show will also offer audiences the chance to sneak a peek at Ng's solo show, Legendary, and their viral TikTok originals inspired by Heartstopper.

Fat, Femme & Asian will feature Roshani Abbey (Hamilton), Desmonda Cathabel (Aladdin), Diya Sohi (The Beaker Girls), Aaron Teoh (Wicked) and Sonya Venugopal (Life of Pi).

The one-off concert performance will be directed by Nina Zoie Lam (Miss Saigon, Hawkeye) with music direction by Yshani Perinpanayagam.

Born and raised in Singapore, Ng is an award-winning singer-songwriter who writes at the intersection of queer, Asian, and immigrant stories. They have performed around the world, including Lincoln Center with Carole King and Carnegie Hall with a cappella group Vocalosity. Ng has won multiple vocal awards all across Asia, including Singapore, Taiwan and China.
