Playwright and entertainer Charles Busch will bring his cabaretact My Kinda 60s to the Pride Films and Plays festival in Chicago January 21 and 22, 2018.
The Tony Award-nominated author, actor, and drag legend has written (and often starred in) four decades of offbeat plays including Vampire Lesbians of Sodom, Psycho Beach Party, The Divine Sister, The Lady in Question, Charles Busch's Cleopatra, and The Tale of the Allergists's Wife. Charles Busch: My Kinda 60’s weaves tales of his Manhattan childhood and adolescence raised by his “indomitable Aunt Lillian” during that tumultuous decade, with a musical narrative that mixes the period pop of Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, the Beatles, Henry Mancini, and Bob Dylan, with show music by Stephen Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, and others.
Charles Busch: My Kinda 60’s debuted at Feinstein’s/54 Below in New York City in October 2017.
Performances of Charles Busch: My Kinda 60’s will take place at the Broadway at Pride Arts Center, 4139 N Broadway, Chicago, at 7:30 PM January 21 and 22. Click here to order tickets, at $50 and $75.
