Mary Tyler Moore: Love Is All Around, hosted by CBS This Morning's Gayle King, will air at 9 PM ET. The program will include interviews with Oprah Winfrey, newsmakers, and other admirers of the late actor.
The special, according to production notes, will “feature original reporting and mine CBS’ vast archives to present the story of the pioneering actress’ life and career. … [Those interviewed will express] their thoughts about Moore’s profound impact on acting and how women were portrayed in the media, as well as her work outside of entertainment.”
In addition to The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970–77), Moore had a long history with CBS, having starred in such series as The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961-66); The Mary Tyler Moore Hour (1979); Mary (1985-86); and New York News (1995).
Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer of the special.
Several other TV stations will also pay tribute to the actor, who could “turn the world on with her smile.” ABC's 20/20 will air Mary Tyler Moore: After All January 27 at 10 PM ET; SundanceTV will broadcast the entire final seventh season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show beginning at 6 AM ET January 28; PBS will rebroadcast Mary Tyler Moore: A Celebration (check local listings); and MeTV will air six classic episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show January 29 beginning at 2 PM ET.
