Off-Broadway News Casting and Creative Team Revealed For The Curtain's Richard III

Gotham star Andrew Sellon will lead the production of Shakespeare's drama at the New Jersey venue this spring.

Full casting and creative team information has been revealed for The Curtain's production of Richard III. Shakespeare's drama will run at New Jersey's Nimbus Arts Center March 5-29. An official opening night is set for March 8.

The Curtain Producing Artistic Director Sean Hagerty is helming the new production. Joining the previously announced Andrew Sellon as Richard III are Spencer AsteYair Ben-Dor (Prayer for the French Republic), Julia Campanelli, Gys De Villiers, Sean Gallagher, Malin Glade, Aaron Gonner, Brandon Jones, Max Murray, Christianna Nelson, James Rana (The Band's Visit), Charles Friedrick Seacrease, Lauren Jeanne Thomas (Beau), Jon Okabayashi, Joe Penczak, and Inez Vega-Romero. Casting is by Robin Carus.

Directed and Adapted by Hagerty, the creative team for Richard III will include costume designer William Ward, lighting designer Ryan Randazzo, sound designers Dan Gerhard and Ellen Fitton for Sonic Designs Inc, prop master Paul Birtwistle, voice and text coach Maggie Surovell, and fight director Brad Lemons. The production stage manager is James Steele, and the assistant stage manager is Gabe Soto. Christine Cirker serves as associate producer, and Angelica Gorga as assistant producer.

The play follows Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who is the very embodiment of lethal ambition as he manoeuvres and murders his way to the throne of England, sardonically revelling in his own villainy every step of the way. But once he has reached the top, the only way left to go is down—and in Richard’s growing roster of vengeful enemies, none are more menacing than the ghosts of his past.
