Casting has been announced for Terrence McNally's Master Class, the first production of The Garry Marshall Theatre’s Inaugural Season in Burbank, California.
Helmed by Artistic Director Dimitri Toscas, performances are scheduled for September 22-October 22.
Daytime Emmy winner Carolyn Hennesy (General Hospital, Cougar Town, The Bay: The Series) will star as legendary opera soprano Maria Callas. She will be joined by Roy Abramsohn as “Manny” Weinstock, Jeff Campanella as Stagehand, Maegan McConnell as Sophie De Palma, Landon Shaw II as Anthony Candolino, and Aubrey Trujillo-Scarr as Sharon Graham.
The production will also feature scenic design by Francois-Pierre Couture, costume design by Michele Young, lighting by JM Montecalvo, sound design by Robert A. Ramirez, and properties design by John McElveney.
Inspired by Callas’ Juilliard master class series, McNally’s Tony Award-winning play spotlights the tour-de-force artist and the vulnerable woman known as La Divina. Callas relentlessly coaxes, prods, and edifies her young students, motivating them to give the performances of their lives, while revealing her humor, her demons, and her genius.
The Garry Marshall Theatre is located at 4252 W. Riverside Drive. Tickets, priced $45-$65, go on sale August 28 by calling (818) 955-8101 or by visiting GarryMarshallTheatre.org.
