Santa Barbara, CA's Ensemble Theatre Company has joined the League of Resident Theatres, signifying that the not-for-profit has demonstrated "administrative and artistic excellence." Ensemble Theatre Company is now the 81st member of the league, which spans across the United States.

To be considered, the Ensemble Theatre Company was examined in a months-long process requiring approval from the LORT Board of Directors, as well as a number of prominent theatrical unions: the Actor's Equity Association, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and United Scenic Artists.

“Being recognized as a member of the League of Resident Theatres marks a major milestone in ETC’s evolution and signals that we are building a reputation as a premier regional theatre company...This recognition also reinforces the quality contributions ETC is making to Santa Barbara’s cultural hub, which offers experiences for both artists and audiences that rival any community in the country,” said Ensemble's executive director Scott DeVine in a statement.

Ensemble Theatre Company joins seven other renowned theatre companies in Southern California that have been accepted into LORT: Geffen Playhouse, Center Theatre Group, Pasadena Playhouse, South Coast Rep, Laguna Playhouse, La Jolla Playhouse, and The Old Globe.
