Broadway News Broadway's The Cottage Closes for the Season October 29

Jason Alexander made his Broadway directorial debut with the new comedy from playwright Sandy Rustin.

Sandy Rustin's The Cottage completes its limited Broadway run at The Helen Hayes Theater October 29 after beginning previews July 7 and officially opening July 24 (read reviews here). Tony winner Jason Alexander made his Broadway directorial debut helming the production.

Leading the cast are Laura Bell Bundy as Sylvia, Eric McCormack as Beau, Lilli Cooper as Marjorie, Alex Moffat as Clarke, Dana Steingold as Dierdre, and Nehal Joshi as Richard. Rounding out the company as understudies are Michelle Federer, Jamie Ann Romero, Matthew Flloyd Miller, and Tony Roach. Casting is by Laura Stanczyk.

Inspired by the works of Noël Coward and written by Rustin (Clue), The Cottage is set in the English countryside in 1923 as Sylvia decides to come clean with her affair to both her husband and to her lover’s wife.

The production features scenic design by Paul Tate dePoo III, costume design by Sydney Maresca, lighting design by Jiyoun Chang, sound design by Justin Ellington, and wig, hair, and makeup design by Tommy Kurzman. Lark hackshaw is production stage manager, with Brant Sennett serving as stage manager.

The Cottage was produced on Broadway by Broadway & Beyond Theatricals, Cornice Productions, and Martian Entertainment, along with Paige Price, Scott Mauro, Malcolm Gosling/Dan Gottfried, Gayle Seay/Tony Nation, Cornice Productions Fund 1, Michael Saperstein, Rick Costello, Jonathan Demar, Paul Jungquist, Tom & Judy Kleinman, Marjorie Morrissey, Mark Reardon, Shapiro Jensen Productions, Nina Tassler, Dale & James Young, and 7Sennots LLC.
