Tickets can be purchased at Telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200. Tickets were previously available beginning July 7 exclusively to American Express cardholders.

Previews begin Oct. 7 at the John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), with an official opening night set for Oct. 25. Directed by David Esbjornson (The Goat, Or Who Is Sylvia?), this 16-week limited engagement will run through Jan. 29, 2011.

Here's how producers Jed Bernstein and Adam Zotovich bill the play: "Mr. Uhry's classic play is a timeless, searing, funny, and ultimately hopeful meditation on race relations in America, told through the complex relationship between two of popular culture's most enduring characters. When Daisy Werthan, a widowed, 72-year-old Jewish woman living in midcentury Atlanta, is deemed too old to drive, her son hires Hoke Colburn, an African American man, to serve as her chauffeur. What begins as a troubled and hostile pairing, soon blossoms into a profound, life-altering friendship that transcends all the societal boundaries placed between them."

The play emerged Off-Broadway in 1987 and found international success as an Oscar-winning film (four Academy Awards, including Best Picture).

Driving Miss Daisy will play the following schedule: Monday, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM, Tuesday at 7 PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM (from Oct. 7-25, Tuesday performances begin at 8 PM). Tickets ($65-$125) will also be available, beginning Sept. 9, at the box office of the Golden Theatre. Visit www.DaisyonBroadway.com.
