Pascal, who just appeared in the Actors' Fund benefit concert of Chess, is best known for his theatrical debut as Roger in the original cast of Rent — which he played Off-Broadway, Broadway and London. He followed that Tony Award-nominated turn with a three-year run in Broadway's Aida as Radames. Pascal, who also enjoys a recording career, will release his second solo album on Sh-K-Boom Records this spring. The actor can also be seen in the current film "School of Rock."

The long-running musical, which recently announced a new closing date of Jan. 4, 2004, currently stars Susan Egan (as Sally Bowles), Tony Roberts (as Herr Schultz) and Blair Brown (as Fraulein Schneider) with Rick Holmes, Liz McConahay and Peter Benson.

Roundabout recently purchased Cabaret's current home Studio 54 and announced that a revival of the Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman musical Assassins will inaugurate the newly-acquired space as Roundabout's new Broadway musical venue in March of 2004.

Pascal is the latest in a long lineup of actors to play the Emcee, following the role's Tony Award-winning originator Alan Cumming. The other performers include Michael Hall, Matt McGrath, Raul Esparza, John Stamos and Neil Patrick Harris.

The musical directed by Sam Mendes with Rob Marshall, featuring the music of Kander, the lyrics of Ebb and book by Joe Masteroff, opened on Broadway March 19, 1998. It won Tony Awards that year including Best Revival of a Musical.
