There may be a new choreographer in Arendelle!

Variety reports that Peter Darling, the Tony Award-winning choreographer behind Billy Elliot: The Musical and Matilda The Musical, will not lend his talents to the much-anticipated Broadway production of Disney’s Frozen. Instead, when the tale of two sisters debuts on Broadway, that credit could go to Tony Award-winning choreographer Christoper Gattelli. Darling reportedly exited the Frozen team due to a prior commitment to another production and talks are under way with Gattelli

This wouldn’t be Gattelli’s first collaboration with Disney Theatrical Productions, as he won his Tony for his athletic and explosive choreography in Newsies in 2012. Gattelli’s work was last seen on Broadway in this past fall’s Amazing Grace. Prior to that, he was nominated for a Tony for his work on the Lincoln Center revival of The King and I.

Gattelli is currently working on the Broadway-bound family-friendly show: The SpongeBob Musical.

Gattelli would join the already announced Frozen creative team of director Alex Timbers (The Robber Bridegroom, Rocky, Peter and the Starcatcher), songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez (who wrote the music for the animated film) and book writer Jennifer Lee (who also wrote the screenplay for the movie).

Tony Award winner Bob Crowley will provide scenic and costume design with lighting design by Tony Award winner Natasha Katz, sound design by Tony nominee Peter Hylenski and musical supervision by Tony and Grammy winner Stephen Oremus.

Fans of the movie can likely expect some dancing at Elsa’s coronation ball and from Olaf with his show tune-like number “In Summer”—if the stage version follows its source material—but it will be exciting to see what the team could have in store when the eternal winter storms the stage.

As of now, the show from Disney Theatrical Productions is set for a Spring 2017 debut in Denver, CO with a Broadway premiere in 2018.
