Release dates have been announced for two eagerly awaited Disney films: the sequel to the 2013 animated hit Frozen and the live-action adaptation of The Lion King.

The follow-up to Frozen will hit screens November 27, 2019, while The Lion King, which will be directed by Jon Favreau, will make its debut June 19, 2019, according to Deadline.

The Lion King, based on Disney's 1994 animated feature film, will feature James Earl Jones reprising his performance as Mufasa and Donald Glover as Simba. The animated film and subsequent Broadway musical feature music by Elton John and Tim Rice. The original movie earned more than $1 billion for Disney and won Oscars for the song Can You Feel the Love Tonight and Hans Zimmer's original score.

The multi-Tony Award-winning musical The Lion King, directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, continues at the Minskoff Theatre.
