Broadway in Chicago has pushed back the world premiere of the new musical Once Upon a One More Time, a modern story of fairy-tale princesses told using Britney Spears songs. Previously scheduled to begin performances this fall, the show is now slated for spring 2020.
Once Upon a One More Time will run April 14–May 17, 2020, at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago. As previously reported, the show is eyeing a subsequent Broadway bow.
Using songs like "Stronger," "Toxic," and "Oops I Did It Again," Once Upon a One More Time is the story of a group of famous fairy-tale princesses—challenged by way of a The Feminine Mystique-wielding fairy godmother—on the quest for a new kind of narrative: one in which they can let their hair down, smash the glass slippers, and claim their own kingdom.
Directed by Kristin Hangii (Tony nominee for Rock of Ages), the new musical features a book by Jon Hartmere (Bare: A Pop Opera).
