The New Jersey Star Ledger reports that the Angela Barrow-Dunlap/Marvie Wright work will play Newark's Symphony Hall Nov. 11-15. The play concerns four women — Simone, Claudia, Faye and Alex — who host a television talk show. Williams' co-stars include Tichina Arnold, Lauren Alexis, Margaret Bell and Kellie Evans. Barrow-Dunlap also directs the production.
According to the show's website, If These Hips Could Talk takes audiences "on a journey through the lives of women who appear to have it all together, but whose struggles mirror those of women all over the world. When these women decide to 'tell all' the stage is set for some uncut and uncensored 'sister girl' bonding. From sexual promiscuity to abusive relationships, and obsessive dieting to marital infidelity, [the play] explores real issues and provides real answers."
On Broadway Billy Dee Williams appeared in Fences; I Have a Dream; Hallelujah, Baby!; Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright; A Taste of Honey; and A Cool World. His numerous film credits include "Batman," "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi," "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back," "Nighthawks," "Mahogany" and "Lady Sings the Blues."
Symphony Hall is located in Newark, NJ, at 1020 Broad Street. Tickets, priced $25-$40, are available by calling (973) 643-8009.
