Maggie Siff (Billions) and David Warshofsky (Taken) will star as Ella and Weston Tate, respectively, in the Signature Theatre's upcoming revival of Curse of the Starving Class by Sam Shepard. Directed by Terry Kinney, the production is set to begin previews April 23 in the Signature's Irene Diamond Stage.
Rounding out the cast are Lizzy DeClement (New Amsterdam) as Emma, Flora Diaz (Gotham) as Sergeant Malcolm, Gilles Geary (The I-Land) as Wesley, Esau Pritchett (The Night Of) as Ellis, and Andrew Rothenberg (The Walking Dead) as Taylor.
Last produced in New York by Signature more than 20 years ago, Curse of the Starving Class paints a portrait of the struggling Tate family, living a stagnant, unhappy existence in rural California.
The revival will officially open May 13 and is scheduled through May 26.
The creative team for Curse of the Starving Class features Julian Crouch (scenic design), Sarah J. Holden (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound design and original music), William Berloni (animals), and Peter Pucci (choreographer). The production stage manager is Robert Bennett, and casting is by Caparelliotis Casting.
Pulitzer Prize winner Shepard is the Signature Theatre's Legacy Playwright.
