An industry reading of Elysian Fields… a new musical will be presented October 22 at 2 PM at Pearl Studios in Manhattan.

Forbidden Broadway's Gerard Alessandrini will direct a cast that includes Michael McCorry Rose (The Queen of Versailles), Max Chernin (Parade), Anthony Wayne (Tina), Bianca Leigh (Oh, Mary!), Mary Testa (Oklahoma!), Matt Allen (Once Upon a One More Time), Stephanie Rosenberg (Moulin Rouge!), and Jake Swain (Mean Girls).

Set at a party in 2016 Kentucky, the musical follows hostess Black-Eyed Suzie (Wayne) and the evening’s attendees, who are celebrating the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming gay marriage by having bar patrons Josh Reddy (Rose) and Abe Manowitz (Chernin) tie the knot on the dance floor. In this time-travel musical, we also meet another couple named Josh and Abe: Joshua Speed and his long-time bedmate Abraham Lincoln. Rose and Chernin also play the 19th century pair, but mid-party, Abe gets cold feet, risking a disastrous end to the annual event.

“This show has everything,” says director Alessandrini in a statement. “It’s fresh, inventive, as poignant as it is funny, and most importantly of all, ridiculously entertaining.”

The reading will also have music direction by Beth Falcone, and Tama-Rose Bazzle will stage manage. St. Pete Productions and ElysianOnBroadway, LLC are producing.

Those in the industry interested in attending the reading can RSVP to the reading here.
