Beneatha's Place, written and directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, begins performances at London's Young Vic Theatre June 27. The piece, which takes a satirical approach to Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, will play through August 5.

Starring Cherrelle Skeete (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Hanna) as Beneatha Younger, the play follows Beneatha after the events of A Raisin in the Sun, exploring her life in Lagos and her eventual return to the home where it all began.

Skeete is joined by Zackary Momoh (Seven Seconds, The Nevers) as Joseph Asagai/Wale Oguns, Sebastian Armesto (Leopoldstadt, The Tudors) as Daniel Barnes/Prof Mark Bond, Jumoké Fashola (The High Table, For All the Women Who Thought They Were Mad) as Prof Shirley Jones/Aunty Fola, Tom Godwin (Best of Enemies, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical) as Mr Nelson/Prof Gary Jacobs, and Nia Gwynne (Tolkien, Timon of Athens) as Mrs. Nelson/Dr Harriet Banks.

In addition to Kwei-Armah, the production features a creative team that consists of set and costume designer Debbie Duru, lighting designer Mark Henderson, sound designer Tony Gayle, voice and dialect coach Esi Acquaah-Harrison, casting director Heather Basten, Jerwood assistant director Ellis, and Jerwood trainee assistant director Tia-zakura Camilleri.
