Douglas Lyons and Ethan D. Pakchar's new musical Beau, which had its world premiere Off-Broadway earlier this summer, will return in October.
Presented by Out of the Box Theatrics in association with The StoryLine Project, the new musical is transferring uptown: while the world premiere closed August 3 at 154 Christopher Street (formerly known as the New Ohio Theatre), the return will play Out of the Box Theatrics’ new home at St. Luke’s Theatre at 308 West 46th Street.
The return production will begin performances on October 13, with opening night set for October 27.
Conceived and written by Lyons (Chicken and Biscuits), with music by Pakchar (Back to the Future: The Musical) and Lyons, Beau the Musical features eight actor-musicians telling the story of Ace Baker, a young queer man whose life is forever changed when he discovers his deceased grandfather is actually still alive.

Matt Rodin (Company, All the World’s a Stage), who has been with Beau The Musical for over seven years through all stages of its development, will reprise his critically acclaimed performance as Ace. Additional casting will be announced soon.
Josh Rhodes (Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Spamalot) will return to direct and choreograph after staging the earlier run, with the rest of his creative team to be announced. The previous bow featured musical supervision by Chris Gurr (Back to the Future: The Musical, The Prom), scenic design by Daniel Allen (Chicken & Biscuits), costume design by Devario D. Simmons (Thoughts of a Colored Man), lighting design by Adam Honoré (Purlie Victorious), sound design by Jordana Brenica (Suffs), and prop design by Sean Frank (Teeth). The musical is produced by Bryan McCaffery and Leah Michalos.
Following a presentation at the 2019 Adirondack Theatre Festival, Sony Masterworks Broadway released the show’s world premiere recording.
