Off-Broadway News Beau the Musical Returns Off-Broadway October 13

The Douglas Lyons-Ethan D. Pakchar musical tells the story of a young queer man who discovers his deceased grandfather is actually still alive.

The Off-Broadway encore run of Douglas Lyons and Ethan D. Pakchar's Beau The Musical begins performances October 13 at St. Luke's Theatre.

Starring Matt Rodin and Jeb Brown, the production is set to open October 27. Josh Rhodes is directing and choreographing.

Conceived and written by Lyons (Chicken and Biscuits), with music by Pakchar (Back to the Future: The Musical) and Lyons, Beau the Musical features eight actor-musicians telling the story of Ace Baker, a young queer man whose life is forever changed when he discovers his deceased grandfather is actually still alive.

Reprising their performances from the world premiere run earlier this season at Out of the Box Theatrics are Rodin as Ace Baker, Amelia Cormack (Hadestown) as Raven, Andrea Goss (Indecent) as Le-Ann/Karina/Nurse, Miyuki Miyagi as Daphney, and Derek Stoltenberg as Dennis. Newly joining for this go-around are Brown as Beau, Ryan Halsaver (Kinky Boots) as Larry, and Max Sangerman (Dead Outlaw) as Ferris. 

Standbys Luke Darnell, Seth Eliser, Tyler Donovan McCall, Lauren Jeanne Thomas, and Rose Van Dyne round out the company. McCall will star as Ace Baker at select performances. Casting is by Geoff Josselson.

Bryan McCaffrey and Leah Michalos are producing the encore run in association with The StoryLine Project and Out of the Box Theatrics.

This bow features music supervision by Chris Gurr, scenic design by Daniel Allen, costume design by Rodrigo Muñoz, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Jordana Abrenica, prop design by Sean Frank, intimacy direction by Kimi Handa Brown, and fight direction by Michael Rossmy. Charlie Wheatley Meffe is production manager, with Kyra Bowie as production stage manager and Brant Sennett as assistant stage manager. Jonathan Bach is serving as production supervisor, with Brian Strumwasser as hair and makeup consultant.
