BBC Two has announced that it will broadcast the Robert Icke-helmed London production of Hamlet, currently playing on the West End. In 2018 TV viewers will get a front-row seat to the critically acclaimed production starring Olivier Award winner Andrew Scott in the title role.

Following a sold-out run at London’s Almeida Theatre earlier this year, the show transferred to the Harold Pinter Theatre June 9 and is scheduled to play through September 2.

The cast also includes Derbhle Crotty as Gertrude, Jessica Brown Findlay as Ophelia, Barry Aird as Francisco/Gravedigger, Madeline Appiah as Guildenstern, Marty Cruickshank as Player Queen, Calum Finlay as Rosenctranz, Angus Wright as Claudius, Joshua Higgott as Horatio, Daniel Rabin as Reynaldo, David Rintoul as Ghost/Player King, Maanuv Thiara as Marcellus, Luke Thompson as Laertes, Peter Wight as Polonius, and Matthew Wynn Bernardo/Player 3/ Priest.

Hamlet is produced by Ambassador Theatre Group (Sunday in the Park With George, Buried Child, Oresteia), Sonia Friedman Productions, and the Almeida Theatre (Chimerica, Ghosts, King Charles III, 1984, Oresteia).

The BBC Two broadcast will be in 2018, with a date and time to be announced.
