The evening will honor director and BSC Associate Artist John Rando with the William Finn Award for Innovation and Excellence in Musical Theatre.

Rando has directed two of the most popular musicals in BSC history: The Pirates of Penzance and On the Town. The latter transferred to Broadway and received four Tony Award nominations, including Best Director. At BSC, Rando also directed The Royal Family of Broadway and Guys and Dolls; on Broadway, he won a Tony Award for his direction of Urinetown.

The Araca Group will serve as honorary chairs for the upcoming event, which begins at 6 PM with a cocktail reception followed by a 7:30 PM performance co-hosted by Tony winners Roger Bart and Harriet Harris.

Those offering performances or tributes include Clyde Alves (On the Town), Arnie Burton (The Royal Family of Broadway, Machinal), Janet Dacal (The Sting), William Finn (The Royal Family of Broadway, Falsettos), David Garrison (The Visit), David Ives (Lives of the Saints), Daniel Marcus (Urinetown), Jeff McCarthy (Urinetown), Jill Paice (Jerry Springer: The Opera), Elizabeth Stanley (On the Town), Scarlett Strallen (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), and Will Swenson (The Royal Family of Broadway, Waitress). The evening will feature musical direction by BSC Associate Artist Darren R. Cohen.

“Between Barrington Stage’s commitment to developing new musical works, as manifest with its New Work Initiative, and its unparalleled practice of brilliantly reviving the classics of the musical theatre, BSC provides a wonderful home to writers, composers, performers and directors alike. And frankly, I am simply honored to be a member of the BSC family,” said Rando in a statement.

The event will be chaired by Eda Sorokoff, along with co-chairs Jamie deRoy, Clara Londoner, and Rosita Sarnoff.

Tickets begin at $400. All proceeds benefit BSC’s New Works Initiative. For tickets and more information contact Jessica Provenz at (413) 997-6110 or [email protected].
