CHICAGO -- Chicago's female warriors will get their due when Footsteps Theatre reprises its hugely successful Babes with Blades on Jan. 18. The valorous spectacle includes a sendup of Showgirls, a final call for "Xena" auditions, a duel for family honor and a group demonstration of the Makulele (a Brazilian martial arts dance).
Director Dawn "Sam" Alden, a fight choreographer, conceived the show as a way to showcase the skills of female combat artists.
The show has gotten rave reviews.
