Chicago's Goodman Theatre will launch its centennial season with two world-premiere productions.

The first, Ashland Avenue, a new play by Lee Kirk and directed by Susan V. Booth, will feature Jenna Fischer (The Office), Francis Guinan (The Cherry Orchard), Will Allan (The Cherry Orchard), Cordelia Dewdney (Steel Magnolias), and Chiké Johnson (Toni Stone) in the 856-seat Albert Theatre.

Running September 6-October 5, the piece centers on a once-legendary video store, and the family fighting to keep it afloat long after its heydey. When owner Pete's daughter Sam rejects her role as the family business' heir apparent, tensions flare as 40 years of dreams come to a close. Understudies for the production include Daniel Ajak, Adam Benjamin, Maura Kidwell, Hannah Ruwe, and Don Tieri.

The second world premiere is the punk/metal/hip-hop musical Revolution(s) by Zayd Ayers Dohrn, with music by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave and The Nightwatchman). Playing the 350-seat flexible Owen Theatre, the production will be directed by Steve H. Broadnax III (Thoughts of a Colored Man).

When an American soldier and aspiring musician comes home from Afghanistan, he finds himself a part of the resistance to the occupation of the South Side of Chicago. Staged in the Goodman's intimate space, the work lingers on how young radicals across generations are motivated by a form of love. Running October 4-November 9, casting will be revealed at a later date.

Additionally, for the 48th year the Goodman will stage Charles DickensA Christmas Carol for the holidays. Directed for the first time by Malkia Stampley, this year's production will star Christopher Donahue as Ebenezer Scrooge for his second season. Running November 15-December 31, additional casting will be revealed at a later date.
