Ariana DeBose appeared on the June 29 broadcast of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to chat about her Oscar win and hosting the 2022 Tony Awards.
During the Hamilton star's late night appearance, DeBose shared where she keeps the Oscar she won for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Anita in Steven Spielberg's West Side Story. "I actually have a fully-functioning fireplace, believe it or not, which is either really dangerous or awesome." She continued, "I have it [her Oscar] on my mantle, in addition to the other blessings—the accolades I received this season. On my way to my coffeemaker in the morning, I just pass by and I'm like 'yeah, good things can happen.'"
On her recent host gig at the 2022 Tony Awards, she said, "I know Broadway. I spent ten years on Broadway. I wanted to create an evening that was just celebratory and brought some joy. I wanted it to be grand, and sexy, fun, and new, and a little different. And not for nothing."
"Those folks working on Broadway eight times a week, they deserved a good night." She went on to chat about Pride month and the Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. Watch the full clip above.

The Broadway veteran's stage credits include Bring It On: The Musical, Motown The Musical, Pippin, Hamilton, A Bronx Tale The Musical, and Summer: The Donna Summer Musical. DeBose was Tony-nominated for her performance in Summer and won a Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway show.
