We caught up with the Broadway favorite to talk about her upcoming trip, her connection to Rudetsky, and what fans can expect from this unique Broadway adventure.

What are you most excited about for Seth Rudetsky’s Broadway Cruise to the Caribbean, and what do you hope to experience while on board?
Anika Larsen: Oh, like everyone going on this cruise, I’m excited to hang with Seth and his husband James, and I’m wicked psyched for Arielle Jacobs and Lillias White! I adore Arielle, so it’ll be fun to hang with her. And I was obsessed with Lillias in Once on this Island when I was in high school. I’ll try to play it cool when I meet her, but I doubt I’ll succeed. I saw her in Once on this Island on Broadway, and I watched her performance on the Tonys on repeat. That required real dedication, because back then I had it recorded on a VHS tape, which meant I had to rewind it each time and stop and start to find the beginning of the song. It was tedious, but I was committed.

Seth is known for his incredible knowledge of Broadway and his hilarious "Deconstructed" videos. How did you first meet Seth, and what is your favorite memory of working or spending time with him?
Seth remembers my career better than I do. It’s astonishing. And almost everyone on Broadway can say that. He’s better than AI. I met Seth when I was doing Zanna, Don’t! Off-Broadway over 20 years ago. The night he came to the show, everyone kept telling me how much he was going to love the high belting I did. He invited our cast to see his one-man show Rhapsody in Seth, and when I saw his deconstruction of high belting, I got it. All the women he had grown up obsessing about, I also grew up obsessing about, even down to the very same specific moments of belting on cast albums. I knew then we would be friends for life.

Seth Rudetsky’s Broadway Cruise is a unique opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with their favorite stars. What do you think makes this kind of intimate experience so special for both you and the fans?
On Seth’s cruises, we're this little community within the larger ship, a tribe of theatre lovers, which makes it extra fun. We get to enjoy our own special programming, and I love attending the events as much as performing in them. Little Anika growing up outside Boston obsessed with musicals would’ve lost her mind if she knew someday she’d get to take vacations like these!

Beyond the performances, what are you looking forward to doing in the Caribbean? Do you have a favorite port or a specific activity you’re hoping to do?
I will very much enjoy being warm in February.

What's one thing you can tease or share with fans about what you'll be performing or discussing on the cruise?
Well, I’m sure Seth is going to throw a few curveballs at me, so I won’t entirely know what I’m performing or discussing til we’re up on that stage. But, I am going to have some very special guests performing with me—I will not say more than that!
