MCC Theater has revealed details for its annual Miscast Gala, set for April 3 at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. Each year Miscast proves to be one of the industry's favorite events, featuring Broadway stars performing songs from roles in which they might not be traditionally cast. Miscast23 will honor Emmy, Grammy, and Tony nominee Vanessa Williams and MCC Youth Company alumna Lianny Toval.
The event will feature performances by Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford (Sweeney Todd), Tony nominee Denée Benton (Into the Woods), Lorna Courtney (& Juliet), Tony winner André De Shields (Hadestown), Tony nominee Josh Groban (Sweeney Todd), Tony winner LaChanze (Trouble in Mind; The Color Purple), Bonnie Milligan (Kimberly Akimbo), Tony winner Ben Platt (Parade; Dear Evan Hansen), and Eleri Ward (A Perfect Little Death; Only Gold). Will Van Dyke will serve as musical director. Additional performers are still to be announced.
Funds raised from Miscast23 supports its Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, as well as MCC’s literary development work with emerging playwrights and it's Off-Broadway season.
