Feinstein’s/54 Below will celebrate Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s 89th birthday on March 22 with In Praise of Women: A Sondheim Celebration.
The all-female cast will include Tony Award winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal, Side Show), Lucy Anders (Something Rotten!), Ashley Blanchet (Beautiful, Frozen), Bebe Browning, Emma Degerstedt (Smokey Joe’s Cafe), Jordan Ensign (Phantom of the Opera), Kaitlyn Frank (We Are the Tigers, Newsies), Gaelen Gilliland (9 to 5, SpongeBob SquarePants), Jenna Leigh Green (Wicked, Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Celia Hottenstein (Phantom of the Opera), Autumn Hurlbert (Legally Blonde, Something Rotten!), Eryn LeCroy (Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd), Kate Loprest (First Date, The Drowsy Chaperone), Jessie Peltier, Becca Peterson (Bandstand, Mean Girls), Kimber Sprawl (A Bronx Tale, Girl from the North Country), and Nasia Thomas (Ain’t too Proud, Beautiful).
In Praise of Women promises to cover a wide variety of Sondheim’s work, from Into the Woods to Road Show, to Do I Hear a Waltz?
The 11:30 PM concert is produced and directed by Matt Redmond with music direction by Rebekah Bruce Parker.
