Tony winner Alan Cumming and NPR's Ari Shapiro will host the 2023 Fire Island Dance Festival, July 14-16 at Fire Island Pines. The annual event, which debuted in 1995, is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares. Since its debut, Fire Island Dance Festival has raised more than $7.7 million.
The 2023 festival lineup includes Ahmad Joudeh's "Layl (Night)", a performance inspired by Joudeh's experiences as a refugee. Broadway Bares associate director and choreographer Jonathan Lee will make his Fire Island Dance Festival debut, and Paul McGill will present a number choreographed to Debussy's "Sunken Cathedral." Phladelphia Ballet resident choreographer Juliano Nunes' "Dying Swan" and David Parsons' "Whirlaway" also feature. Additional artists will be announced at a later date.
