As previously reported, Guettel is composing a new musical based on Danny Boyle's 2004 film "Millions." The plot centers on two young British boys who find a bag of cash. "It's just a lovely, funny, sweet, family-oriented musical, which I've never tried to do before. It's a lot easier to write complex than it is to write simple," Guettel told the Times.

Also on Guettel's plate are a musical adaptation of H.G. Wells' 1897 piece "The Invisible Man," the English-set sci-fi revenge tale of a scientist who renders himself invisible; and "Days of Wine and Roses," the 1962 film about a tempestuous, booze-fueled love affair.

Earlier reports by Playbill.com stated that Guettel was also penning an opera based on the short stories of American writer Washington Irving. Titled RIP, the work will include the classic tale of "Rip Van Winkle."
