Actors' Equity Association is celebrating its annual Swing Day Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Now in its ninth year, the day commemorates the work of swings, or members of an ensemble who cover multiple roles/tracks within a show.
“With each passing year it becomes more and more clear how invaluable swings are to our industry,” says Al Bundonis, AEA's second vice president (representing the chorus) and chair of the Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA). “Swings exemplify the best of the chorus and have kept the curtain up time and time again. We are excited to spend the day celebrating and uplifting swings by acknowledging all the incredible work you do.”
Equity will celebrate this year with a roundtable discussion featuring four swings in conversation. The video is currently available to watch on Equity's YouTube channel.
The union is also encouraging current and former swings to share their experience on social media using the hashtags #EquityTeamSwing or #SwingDay2024.
