U.S producer Arielle Tepper is transferring the show, which sold out its Donmar run and will now go to the Apollo in Shaftesbury Avenue. Opening night is on Oct. 19, and it is scheduled to run through Jan. 14, 2006.
The cast will remain mostly intact. Alongside Walter and McTeer will be Tam Dean Burn, Stephen Feltcher, Guy Henry, David Horovitch, Rory Kinnear and Rufus Wright. Phyllida Lloyd directs, with designs by Anthony Ward, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Paul Arditti.
It is the Donmar’s first collaboration on a transfer with its U.S. associate producer Tepper. Her Broadway credits include Spamalot and The Pillowman. In a press release, she commented, "It's an honor to be working with this extraordinary cast and production team, and I’m delighted that more theatregoers will be able to see this wonderful Schiller play."
This is also the first West End transfer from the Donmar under the regime of artistic director Michael Grandage (as opposed to Guys and Dolls, a Donmar production that started in the West End). His own staging of a Schiller play, Don Carlos, recently transferred to Theatreland from Sheffield. Grandage commented, "It gives me enormous pleasure to know that Schiller's plays will continue to dominate the West End. . . . It is an opportunity to carry on our efforts to get the Donmar's work seen by as many people as possible in London and around the country."
