Lynn Nottage’s Mlima’s Tale is set to open Off-Broadway April 15 at the Public Theater, where it began performances March 27. Obie Award Winner Jo Bonney directs an ensemble cast made up of Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah (Fela!), Ito Aghayere (Junk), Jojo Gonzalez (Small Mouth Sounds), and Kevin Mambo (The Fortress of Solitude).

Mlima’s Tale tells the story of Mlima, an elephant trapped inside the ivory business. Following a trail of greed and desire, Mlima takes the audience on a journey through memory and fear, history and tradition, and want and need.
