Two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones, most recently on Broadway in the acclaimed 2013 revival of The Glass Menagerie, will guest star on the second season of the Emmy-winning Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale.
Jones will play the feminist mother of June/Offred (Elisabeth Moss). The Broadway favorite will appear as Holly in the third episode of the new season, which launches April 25.
About the casting, Moss told The Hollywood Reporter, “Cherry was my fantasy choice [for the part]. We sent her the script, she wrote a lovely email back and she said yes almost immediately.”
The series, which is based on Margaret Atwood's 1985 novel, won eight 2017 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Moss and Outstanding Drama Series.
Jones won her Tonys for her performances in The Heiress and Doubt.
