Shakespeare’s Globe has appointed Sean Holmes, the former artistic director and join chief executive of London's Lyric Hammersmith, as the theatre’s new associate artistic director. Holmes joins Artistic Director Michelle Terry, who took over leadership last fall.
Holmes succeeded David Farr at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2009. During his tenure, he directed an Olivier Award-winning production of Blasted as well as Ghost Stories and Secret Theatre project. He jointly oversaw the Lyric’s capital development project, and introduced Pantomime to the Lyric.
Joining Holmes as Globe associates are Athena Stevens, Brendan O’Hea, Federay Holmes, and Siân Williams as well as members of the Hamlet/As You Like It ensemble, as associate artists: Catrin Aaron, Yarit D’Or, James Garnon, Colin Hurley, Bettrys Jones, Richard Katz, Jack Laskey, Deb Machin, Nadia Nadarajah, Mary O’Hanlon, Ellan Parry, Pearce Quigley, Shubham Saraf, Helen Schlesinger, Rob Walker, Elle While, and Tanika Yearwood.
"I am so proud to announce my core team of Associate Artists who will help guide and deliver on the season, as well as support the development and continuing exploration of The Globe Ensemble," said Terry in an online statement. "Most of the artists have worked with us in some capacity this season and I am so excited to welcome Sean Holmes to the Globe family."
